The heart of Goleta: Goleta Valley Community Center

July 20th, 2016 SHARE

The Goleta Valley Community Center lies in the heart of Goleta at 5679 Hollister Avenue at what was formerly the Goleta Union School. The Center serves all facets and age groups of our community, from child care to senior services, with a special commitment toward other non-profits, by providing a venue for meetings, classes and activities. The renovated property has lighted parking for 200 cars, basketball courts, a tennis court, athletic field, and picnic area. The building facilities include a fully licensed kitchen, 250 capacity Auditorium, a Dining Hall that accommodates 125 guests, numerous meeting rooms, and two dance studios. The Center sponsors several major events for the community each year. The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is held the first Friday in December and the Veteran’s Day Ceremony and barbecue, each November 11th. Let us not forget the senior Spring Fling, all free events for the public. Their majestic two story Spanish style venue has a front park Gazebo and winding brick path clearly mark this location as the hub of Goleta. The courtyard, fountain, and majestic trees create an oasis in the little downtown area. Over 350,000 visitors will use the Center, its facilities, or programs this next year. The Center is the home to the Community Action Commission’s Headstart program, the Goleta Valley Senior Center, three daycare centers, food programs, Legal Aid, Susan’s Ballet, South Coast Karate, business seminars, training classes, many churches, and much more. It is now, more than ever, the focal point for media gatherings and political meetings and announcements
